Export Controls
The Canadian government and other countries control the export of certain technologies. Export-controlled products and technologies are listed by the Government of Canada (https://www.international.gc.ca/controls-controles/prod/index.aspx?lang=eng) and the U.S. Department of Commerce (https://www.bis.doc.gov/index.php/licensing/commerce-control-list-classification/export-control-classification-number-eccn).
MAL Inc. is required to follow these export regulations when selling CUTPRO and AppsPro-affiliated software tools.
CUTPRO machining process simulation software predicts chatter stability limits, cutting forces, and vibrations for specified work materials, cutting tool geometries, and the dynamic stiffness of machine tools. It is a generic software with algorithms available in public literature, and it can be used to simulate any single-axis machining operation, independent of workpiece geometry. ShopPro is the simplified version of CUTPRO for standard milling tools. The technology is not listed on the Commerce Control List, and its Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) is EAR99.
AppsPro’s integrated machining simulation software modules (MACHPRO, NPRO) use the CUTPRO kernel to simulate cutting forces, torque, chip thickness, power, and tool deflections along the tool path generated by commercial Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software systems used in industry. This generic software, with algorithms available in public literature, can be used to simulate metal cutting operations. The technology is not listed on the Commerce Control List, and its Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) is EAR99.
Customers who utilize our generic software systems are responsible for obtaining the necessary licenses from the relevant governments if their products and activities fall under applicable export laws, should they seek to export, re-export, or otherwise transfer controlled goods. MAL Inc. does not engage in applying its expertise to any export-controlled goods and technologies unless specific licenses are obtained and agreements are made between the parties.
