‘Impact Testing’ is used to measure natural frequencies of objects; in the case of machining, this applies to the machine & tool as well as the workpiece setup.

Equipment Setup

  • An accelerometer is connected to the tool tip
  • Impact the hammer across the accelerometer to make a measurement
  • The Data Acquisition Card then reads the input/output values of the measurement
  • Laser Displacement Sensors may be used in place of Accelerometers if needed
